Online Language Support (OLS) ?

Scope of the Online Language Support:

For students who will benefit student mobility activity in higher education are offered online language support by the European Commission.

In 2014 period, this support is offered to students in 6 languages: German, French, Dutch, Italian, English and Spanish. Only students who will perform their activities in these operations are subject to this system. However, online language support is not applied for the students whose mother tongue is also the language of activity.

Online language support includes compulsory exams and elective online language course support.

Compulsory Exams:

Students selected to perform the learning or internship mobility, take a pre-activity and post-activity exam over Online Language Support in the language of the learning/internship activity.

Exams does not affect the status of the student’s selectivity. The pre-activity and post-activity exams are performed to observe the change occurring in the language proficiency of the students during their activity. Both exams are compulsory.

Exam results can be seen only by students and higher education institutions sending the student.

Optional Language courses:

Before starting their activities and after taking the language exam the students may join online language courses voluntarily in case they see themselves insufficient or with the proposal of Higher Education Institutions.

Exam language and course language should be the same.

Language courses are determined by the duration of activity time. Duration of the course for students who will perform activities from 2-6 months is between 2-6 months. Course duration for students who will perform activities over 6 months (up to 12 months) is limited to 6 months.

Online Language Exams and Attending Courses:

Students' participation to exam and language courses is provided by Higher Education Institutions. All Higher Education Institutions who will be performing student mobility at the beginning of the contract period are defined language exam and language course rights (licenses) in accordance with their ratio of mobility capacity. Licenses are given to higher education institutions as the total number without distinction of languages. How many licenses will be used is decided by the higher education institutions according to their own needs.

Higher education institutions identifies the allotted examination rights for each language to the students who will perform the activities in that language through a Mobility Tool. Course license are defined separately for the students who will take courses.

Licensing procedures for the students is possible by entering the system the e-mail addresses of the students. Students take exams and courses through the web page link sent to their e-mail address.

In case the number of language courses of the higher education institution is lower than the number of students who want to take courses, courses licenses are distributed starting from the student having the lowest score in the language exam taken.
