Dates of Erasmus+ Language Exam

 

Within the framework of Erasmus+ Programme for the 2016 – 2017 Academic Year, the dates of written and oral language examinations for study and internship at European Universities are as follows: 

Online application will be available between 11 January 2016 and 8 February 2016.

After the eligibility control by the Students Affairs Office, Çukurova University School of Foreign Languages, as the coordinator of the examination, will announce the list of students who are eligible for attending the language examination.

Students who will apply to Erasmus+ Exchange Programme must submit the required documents (photo, signed application form, an up-to-date transcript covering also the 2015-2016 fall term) on the 9 the of February 2016 at the latest.

Students must bring separate applications for the Student Mobility for Study and Student Mobility for Traineeship.

Since there have been problems in other e-mail servers, a valid Gmail address must be declared in the application form by the applicant.

-10-Point Deduction Rule

The rule is applicable to the students who entered in the language exam at previous terms and were entitled to mobility, but waived their rights without providing a reasonable reason. 10 points from their overall Erasmus point is deducted for each mobility waived. The rule is also applicable to students who are registered to any language exam but fail to attend. Waiver letters must be submitted on June 15 2016 at the latest.

General application rules are as follows:

·         Applicants must be full-time students.

·         Undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral students studying at Çukurova University are eligible for application.

·         Under-graduate and post-graduate students in preparation class cannot apply.

·         All applicants must submit the printed copy of their application form produced in pdf format at the end of the online application system.

·         Applicants must obtain their transcript from Student Affairs Office and submit it to the International Office together with the printed copy of their online application form. In cases where the online application form includes incorrectly filled-in information, applicants should indicate this to the officer at the International Office while submitting the hardcopy and the incorrect information can be corrected in writing during the submission. Applicants must keep in mind that the application form cannot be changed after its submission to the Office.

·         The application form of all candidates pass through an eligibility control, which measures the compliance of their application with the criteria established in the Erasmus Exchange Directive of Çukurova University, published on International Office’s website (http://international.cukurova.edu.tr). The eligible candidates will be entitled to attend the foreign language exam. 

·         The list of candidates eligible to attend the foreign language exam will be published onhttp://international.cu.edu.tr.

·         All eligible candidates who have earned the right to become Erasmus student in previous years, but have not used or waived their right, are still required to re-enter the foreign language exam.

·         All applicants are required to participate in the foreign language exam held by the School of Foreign Languages. No other language certificate will be accepted.  

·         Applicants, who wish to study abroad at higher education institutions teaching in English, will participate in the English language exam and those, who wish to study at the institutions teaching in French or German, will participate in the French or German language exam, respectively. Applicants can attend more than one language exam. Applicants, who fail in the exam, cannot benefit from the exchange.  

·         All Erasmus language exams are prepared at B2 level according to European Language Portfolio (http://adp.meb.gov.tr/nedir.php).

·         Erasmus language exam is a two-phased exam, including written and oral examinations and will be held on the places and dates designated below for the 2016-2017 Academic Year:

·         Information regarding the quotas in student mobility for study can be obtained from departmental coordinators.

·         For objections to the results of eligibility control, placement process and results, students may contact the Erasmus+ Coordinator and relevant faculty/departmental coordinators and when necessary, use the formal objection procedure of our university. In cases where students are not satisfied with the outcome of such objections, they may refer the situation to the Presidency of the Centre for EU Education and Youth Programs (the Turkish National Agency) (www.ua.gov.tr).

·         Students, who apply to the Student Mobility for Study for the 2016-2017 period, and pass the language exam, may benefit from their right to mobility until 30.09.2017 at the latest.

·         For Student Mobility for Study, successful applicants may receive grant for a maximum period of 12 months in total per each cycle of study:

First study cycle: Undergraduate level

Second study cycle: Graduate level

Third study cycle:  Doctoral level

·         The assessment criteria and the weighted grades to be used in the assessment of applications for the Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Study for the 2016-2017 academic year are: 

ü  Academic standing          : % 50

ü  Language level                 : % 50

·         No fee is charged for applications.

·         According to the board decision dated 12.06.2013 of the Department of English Language Teaching, the students of the said department must earn 80 (out of 100) at minimum from the language exam (English) in order to benefit from the Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Study.

·         According to the board decision dated 27.03.2014 of the Department of German Language Teaching, the students of the said department must earn 70 (out of 100) at minimum from the language exam (German) in order to benefit from the Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Study.

·         According to the board decision dated 05.03.2015 of the Department of French Language Teaching, the students of the said department must earn 70 (out of 100) at minimum from the language exam (French) in order to benefit from the Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Study.

Specific Considerations for Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Study

·         For application, the latest grade point average must be 2.20/4.00 or 58/100 at minimum for Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree students and 2.50/4.00 or 65/100 for Post-Graduate and Doctoral students.

·         Applicants, who have earned the right to do study mobility for the 2016-2017 academic year, may benefit from the programme with grant.

·         The minimum period of study mobility is 3 months. This period cannot be reduced for reasons other than force majeure. If the mobility period is less than 3 months, grant payment is not made, and students as such are reported as non-grant student.

·         Students, who study on per-year basis (such as in Medical School and State Conservatory), may have two failed years at most and those, who study on per-semester basis, may have two failed semesters/one failed year at most.

·         Applicants must be full-time students.

·         Undergraduate students cannot benefit from the study mobility during their freshman year.
